MESS serves the University of Virginia and the Charlottesville/Albemarle community
MESS is an organization intent on providing information on the Macintosh computer product line and other products from Apple Computers, Inc.
Membership in MESS is free and open to anyone at the University or in the surrounding communities—simply join the mailing list.
MESS Charter - March 1993
This organization is formed to provide the following resources to the University Community:
- A forum for discussion among users of Macintosh hardware and software.
- A point of contact for vendors desiring to present their products to interested prospective clients.
- A focal point for support issues which are of interest to the University Community, both current and prospective Macintosh hardware/software users.
- A balanced perspective in reviewing hardware and software.
This organization does not limit participation to any group of individuals.
This group neither endorses, nor promotes, any particular products, but attempts to share a variety of views about hardware/software associated with Apple Computer, Inc. in general and, specifically, the Macintosh.
Anticipated membership and facilities usage:
- The direction of the organization will be provided by a mixed group of Macintosh users in the University Community, a Steering Committee, headed by a President.
- Anticipated attendance at Seminars is 35 to 50 people.
- University facilities will be utilized approximately once a month. A convenient lecture hall, meeting room will be requested in the evening hours, 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, allowing sufficient time for setup and take down. There may be occasional day long workshops that will requre additional usage. Occasional usage of computer equipment, large screen presentation euipment will be requested.
