PURPOSE
The Lesbian, Gay, and bisexual Faculty and Staff Association was founded in the spring
of 1992 to serve the needs of the gay, lesbian, and bisexual members of the University
of Virginia community. We kickoff each new academic year with a reception in September to welcome new and old members, partners and friends.
While the goals of individual members are diverse, the primary objectives of the
Association are to:
- Educate the UVa community about the needs and interests of lesbian, gay, and bisexual people.
- Develop academic courses relating to lesbian, bisexual, and gay history and affairs.
- Provide a social outlet where members of our community can feel comfortable.
- Furnish information on advocacy and support services for lesbian, gay, and bisexual staff.
- Maintain a forum for expressing ideas and exchanging information.
- Pursue political change that helps to foster a more tolerant and diverse atmosphere
both in the community and at the University.
