The University of Virginia Women's Club extends a warm welcome to new members of the University community. ( See "Membership" for membership requirements for the University of Virginia Women's Club.) The University of Virginia is a special University, and Charlottesville is a lovely area in which to live. However, moving to a new place and getting used to a new academic position can be challenging. The Newcomer Group of the UVA Women's Club is designed to help make your transition easier and more enjoyable. Members are considered newcomers for their first two years in the UVa Women's Club.
The Newcomer Committee organizes many enjoyable events and outings to introduce Newcomers to people and places around the University and the Charlottesville area. Perhaps even more importantly, you are introduced to your fellow newcomers and to those who remember all too well the difficulties of being newcomers. It is a pleasure and privilege to extend to you the assistance and friendship that we received from the University of Virginia Women's Club when we first became associated with the University. Please join us for some great events, and let us get to know you and welcome you to UVA!
Participation in the newcomers group is available to members during their first two years in the UVA Women's Club. The committee encourages all present members to seek out new members and offer them the opportunity to join the Newcomers Group.
